My goodness we are losing 500-0 !
Ian Anstice reports this morning that the number of closures has past five hundred for the first time. The figure stonked up to 521 since the weekend. And remember, this is just the first year of this match -we aren't even at half time yet. No break for oranges. Roy of the Rovers is well ahead of the Desmond Doodlers. We need to sharpen up the Act
Bring on the Judge - Oxford looks the best place for a case. Lots of agony in Number 10 and anguish in Trafalgar Square. Phil Woolas and the Ghurkas all over again, for a junior Minister. With luck the legals could go on for months and months- it doesn' really matter who wins or loses, it will just hurt and hurt.
There is no doubt whatsoever that Oxfordshire County Council could meet the budget pressure in its Library Budget, without closing one library or reducing one opening hour. The figures are clear, even if the council has not yet shown them to Philip Pullman! Perkins knows where the real savings lie. How could the bunglers in the County and in the DCMS have made such fools of themselves in this constituency. It beggars belief. I'm sure there is a Latin expression for it, and that we will hear it mamy times over.
By the way, thank you to Ventnor Blog, the Mayor of Ventnor and all the very kind people of the Isle of Wight, especially Councillor George Brown, who were very friendly and welcoming -- I am not alone in hoping that you can resolve the budget conundrum . Everybody wants the same outcome : a jolly good library service.
We are all proud to live on the Isle of Wight Archipelago.
