Still no CIPFA figures
A financial accountant once told me that the mantra of his professsion was 'Timely, relevant and accurate'
CIPFA - the Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants- have so far failed to produce the figures for public libraries for the year ending March 2009.
Chartered by whom?

CIPFA have probably had to sacrifice timeliness for accuracy this year. For example, they would have had to go out and physically count the number of libraries run by some authorities, such as Lambeth, as they cannot rely on the figures returned to them. There is apparently no sanction against false returns, as, say, the Inland Revenue has against the people who pay for the libraries.

I hear the CIPFA figures have now been published. So perhaps Perkins knows whether Lambeth has lost or gained any libraries. Clever of someone to delay them till after the elections. A headline "Lambeth Council Closes Four Libraries" wouldn't have helped their re-election!
