Let us make a timetable
While we yet again await the collective body of politicians and public servants to announce the results of 18 months deliberation in their 'Review of Public Libraries' the public has to wait for improvements and commitments to their public library service.
I think the time for consultation and report writing has long since past and it is time now for clarity and action.
Let us commit to some actions in some councils and make a timetable. Let us no longer depend on any central government body, department or quango- and instead form an alliance of councils to make improvement quickly.
Who will join me? Which councils, which suppliers, which user groups, will put their hand on the table?

I'd rather just (to quote a famous sketch from 'Not the Nine O'clock News'), cut their ******* off, but, while enjoyable, that may not be the kind of clear action required. Nor would driving a tank through Camden council's HQ although it would probably improve the architectural layout and wake up some of the staff. Then again, maybe not. Given reasonable warning, however, I am perfectly willing to put my hand on the table if anyone wants me to get round said table with the nabobs in charge and verbally duff them up. I really have nothing to lose and have only enjoyed any success in life over the past three years by saying all the things I'm not supposed to say and sticking two fingers up at the library establishment. Several dozen times. Well, I'm away in March and poor in pocket, but rich in verbal articulacy and fired by a dark desire to linguistically pulp the over-educated and up-their-own-rear-end neds who have contributed to the misery I have suffered over the past fifteen years. And just in case anyone has any doubt about it, I still spit on revalidation!
