Mrs Perkins
Many thanks to the council who sent a letter today with a kind invitation to a library opening addressed to 'Mr Perkins and Spouse'
We are grateful etc...
(Perkins is a lady, not one supposes in these times, that that makes a difference and it has to be admitted she spends much of the time on the couch in the boudoir).

Do you think they used spouse to be gender or sexual orientation neutral? I live in Massachusetts and admit that I am sometimes not sure of the correct term to use. As it is Mr Perkins, though, it seems to me that an old-fashioned Mrs would have looked better. Perhaps Perkins needs to provide some details about contacting her--and about attending and speaking at public events.

I trust that Perkins does not have such alarming dreams as the cat Mog in Judith Kerr's books. Perhaps during slumber Perkins has visions of the assembled MLA board being chased by a crocodile and a vet with a sedative (not for the crocodile).
