Joan Bakewell

Joan Bakewell has written a very good and comprehending piece in The Times today.

Rob Cowan on Radio Three mentioned the Joan Bakewell piece, and later read out listeners' comments including this one by me. Others said similar things.

"Here in Hove we had a big campaign to save the local library. It made even more waves by the sea. There is a tremendous public appetite for good books, people simply wanting to get on quietly with a stimulating life."
