DCMS in new review of public libraries

I wish I shared your optimism Perkins..Apparently the Review will "explore the best way to measure the service and its contribution to society, as well as broader national priorities. It will also look at...the scope for improved partnerships and new ways of funding service development and improvement." Which sounds like newspeak for a further dilution of the public libraries traditional role and an extension of PFI.

Yes Martyn, I can't quite recall the reason for my enthusiasn-- what I think I meant was that The Bookseller had managed to capture a story that was obviously intended to be kept secret. 'Good news' in the sense of lightening the step of the news editor, I think
