Librarians to make hospital appointments

No one in government is trying to make libraries into better libraries, but immense efforts are being made to train librarians to help people make hospital appointments.

They should sell ice cream in libraries, too. Why not? and hot dogs and groceries? and why not make them into betting shops? Police stations? Lifeboat launch ramps? Sell petrol? make WMD? say prayers? train soldiers? Why not?

Well ours already sells spectacles but I suppose there is a loose connection there.... 'oh dear this one has quite small print, I`ll just hop over there and buy a pair of glasses.'

Isn't it great to be librarian......I can remind people of their doctor's appointment, help them with their housing for London's new housing system, teach them how to use our computers for email........oh, maybe put away some of those pesky books too.......I don't mind assisting people, but when the government starts using a drop-in centre mentality without any training (or even know how), then it does become an annoyance.......
