Daisy Waugh in search of mysteriously good looking men

In the Sunday Times

Manages to mention at length a completely bone headed speech made by Alex Aiken the so-called head of Communications of Westminster City Council who may be a mysterious good looking man. I can't tell. He certainly isn't very shrewd about public libraries- as she says

I have reported Alex Aiken's speech before and I believe it was mentioned in the London newspapers last week.

Alex Aiken's speech is even worse than one had expected.

It is a scandal that a library service should be run by somebody who has so brutal a way with language. He seems proud to repeat time and again that word "brand", which is as gruesome as "consumer".

Hearteningly, he is being widely ridiculed. The free version of the Evening Standard gave it more space than the paper itself - picture of a sexbomb on library-shelf steps with prominent thigh, an encyclopedia and come-hither smile. I collected many copies on the train, and they are causing much merriment in Brighton and Hove, where there is a strong move to increase the stock of books. "Brand" indeed!
