Announcements in Scotland
This announcement in Scotland would have sounded wonderful, except that we have learned to question a Mnister's understanding of what a good library is and what they intend to do with the money. Let's hope there will be a bit more explanation..
Perhaps our old friend Elaine Fulton will be able to elaborate how the Scots' tax is going to be spent?

well did you by any chance see the Architecture Awards on telly the other evening.. one of the shortlisted buildings was the former library now known as an Ideas Centre - the word Library being too scary - in Tower Hamlets. It was an excellent building, design wise. There were places where old men read newspapers and others where people drank coffee and looked up stuff on computers. There were also places where people seem to be doing KeepFit and Tai Chi.
I didn`t see a book though.
But fair enough - they didn`t call it a Library. They`ve demolished that.
