Express your view

There are now 600 people looking at this site every day. The number is going up all the time. I don't know whether that's a lot, but I'm very grateful.

I suspect that many are those who are worried about the library service. My suggestion is that - if you are able- you make a comment on the site called "Love Libraries", which will be receiving a lot of press attention over the next 2 weeks. One doesn't know whether the messages are being shown to the Minister, obviously one assumes they are. But I believe they will be read by journalists covering the Minister's campaign.

It's been extraordinary to follow the stories laid out here, by Tim and his correspondents. When I first met him and heard about closures and shortages, I would have found it hard to believe had I not already seen Tim's research. What gets to me now--as a publisher focused on libraries and a person who has loved them and used them throughout my life--is that all this information isn't being used to turn things round, and quickly! I feel sure that there are many librarians reading this blog, and people who are in a position to step up to the plate (as we say here in America--I'm not sure if one 'steps up to the wicket') with some vision and leadership within their own communities. Not to mention the vital role of national leadership, which--again from the vantage point of being west of the Atlantic--see as something of an improvement on what we're dealing with here. We're delighted, here at Berkshire Publishing, to be supporting this blog and website, because we really do love libraries!
